Photo vs painting: How Manon Labrosse interprets landscape

By STUDY28|Violette Stepaniuk

Looking at abstract paintings, I often wonder how artists arrive at the finished image, what inspires them, how they see things, and how they interpret what they see.

In her recent Tumblr post, Manon Labrosse, whose semi-absract drip painting I featured a year ago, shows how she interprets landscape, specifically a yellow coral mushroom.

Now, I want to revisit her work and see what else I can spy, other than the logs and rivers featured in a number of her paintings. Up for the challenge?

We start to see things which artists point out to us.
